With a new year (and decade!) here, new beginnings are all the rage right now.

I believe that any time of year is a good time to envision who you want to become, but it’s also fun to work with the momentum this time of year brings.

And instead of feeling pressure on ourselves to set super specific goals, become “perfect” humans, or plan out everything in our lives in impeccable detail, I invite you to focus your energy in a different way through these visioning journal prompts:

1. What qualities do you want to express more of that are already within you?

2. What do you choose to let go of?

3. What feelings do you want to experience and invite in?

4. What’s your 2020 intention in one word?

For me, I desire to express more compassion and generosity.

I choose to let go of the stories of lack and scarcity.

I invite in more experiences of fulfillment and freedom.

And my theme word for 2020 is JOY.

I’ve been playing around with this shift in perspective when it comes to manifesting our wildest dreams; it’s to approach our desires as “preferences” instead of “must haves” demands from the Universe.

When we “must have” something to be happy, we become attached to outcomes and lose out on the joy that could come from being in the present moment, and being open to a higher plan our minds can’t possibly perceive yet, until it shows up as a “glad surprise”.

Or we miss out on learning the lessons we need to grow if we refuse to surrender and trust the process by resisting what is.

All I know is that I’m so exhausted from chasing vanity metrics, success, and approval from anything outside of myself. And I’ve experienced a massive shift that comes from redefining what success means for me, and appreciating what’s here now.

What about you?

What do you want to create in 2020?

Write it down, and place it somewhere that you can see daily for the next month.

I’d love to hear what your intentions are! There’s a tremendous amount of power that comes from claiming our intentions through words and being witnessed in our vision.

So I invite you to share yours with me in the comments below!
